As a children's book author-illustrator, Sharon creates gentle stories with spare, lyrical prose paired with soft, textured art. Her work is rooted in her Japanese-American heritage but more broadly seeks to normalize all types of diversity through the stories of underrepresented characters who don't fit mainstream boxes, whether due to cultural marginalization, neurodiversity, gender diversity, or disability.
Sharon worked for 20+ years for a scholarly journal in various capacities, including associate editor and designer. She has published essays and short fiction in literary journals, as well as a Japanese-English translation of a World War II biography by award-winning author/playwright Tsuneyuki Mohri.
Sharon is represented by Anne Moore Armstrong at Bright Agency.
